Content Design: Planning and creating user-centred content

A free online masterclass filled with practical advice to help you find out what content your users want and where and when they want it.

Ensure your content is user-centred with practical and scalable techniques

‘Content design’ is being used around the world as a technique to ensure truly user-centred content can be produced quickly and at scale (see GOV.UK for a case study).

This masterclass dives into how to find out what your users want from you, when they want it and what priorities they have. Presenter, Sarah Richards (author of Content Design), also goes through how to use that effectively and work out what channel it should be on so you can produce useful, engaging content.

Producing content is only half of a content designers’ job so you’ll also find out how to put a value on your work and how to get content into a market that may not be looking for it.

What you'll learn to put your users first

Our experienced content design trainer and consultant and will coach you on:

  • The history of the ‘content design’ approach and GOV.UK.
  • What to do if you have a ‘disruption journey’ - when your audience don’t know what they don’t know.
  • How content design is different from editorial.
  • Where to look for your channel strategy - when should you publish a press release and when should it be a blog post?
  • How this discipline can be used for all types of content.
  • The things that matter most to your audience so you can produce truly effective content.
  • How to find mental models for content from desk research.
  • How to calculate how much it costs your organisation to produce content.

All attendees will also have access to a recording and the slides afterwards so you can share and revisit the the practical advice with clients and teams.
