Following the release of our new 'Connect & Export' tab last week, we thought it would make sense to build some new export options and include them in the tab for you.If you have a look at the tab, you'll notice that we now have four formats which you can export to:

Export_____Product_Updates_____GatherContent

It's imperative to protect your digital content. We've always pushed back HTML and CSV exports (they're the new ones!) in favour of building robust CMS integrations. But given the flexibility these formats bring, it seems logical to include them as "out of the box" export options for your projects. These new export formats work in very much the same way as Word and PDF exports, in that you can instantly download all the Items from your project in the selected format. The unique features are that the HTML will export a zip folder of individual HTML files for each of your project's Items. We've also included download links for all assets. As another nice touch, there is also a index.html file in the folder which lets you quickly navigate the whole project. Nice!

The CSV export will give you a single, lovely and clean, CSV file. This is definitely a really exciting new option, as it suddenly makes it so easy to get content out of GatherContent and into any platform that imports from CSV (that being most Content Management Systems, and of course, Excel and Google Sheets).Perhaps the most exciting outcome of this is the foundations for content import. Yes, very soon we'll be making import functionality available to everyone. As a starting point, we'll be releasing CSV import and XML Sitemap import (i.e. URL scraping). These are both being built and tested as we speak, and we hope to have them available in the next few weeks.

To dream of a world without copying and pasting.
